Local Area – Norfolk’s Natural World

Maple Barns two guest houses were named after we saw both pheasants and barn owls close to the holiday barns within 24 hours of purchasing the property.  A vast array of wildlife visit us regularly.

We are surrounded by rural Norfolk and we overlook farmland.  It is an ideal location for avid birdwatchers. Take a trip to the North Norfolk Coast and visit Holme’s Dunes, Salthouse Marshes, or Titchwell Marsh where during the summer there is potential for a sighting of a marsh harrier hunting over the reeds.  Or for other wildlife how about a trip to see the seals at Blakeney Point.

There are numerous Nature Reserves within easy reach of Maple Barns.  Pensthorpe Nature Reserve is less than 20 minutes drive.  Sculthorpe Moor is only a few minutes further afield.

Just 1.5 miles from Maple Barns you can discover Worthing Lakes, a former major aggregate quarry now matured into spectacularly scenic fishing lakes and nature reserve.
