Local Area – Food

Maple Barns is within easy walking distance of two excellent public houses. Darby’s, a traditional family pub owned and run by a local farmer, serves numerous real ales to complement an excellent and varied menu. They also have a large beer garden, incorporating  a children’s play area. The Angel Inn is also a fine public house and has claims to be an ancestral seat of the forbears of Abraham Lincoln, the celebrated American President.  The Lodge at North Tuddenham is a great place for family dining.

There are numerous other delightful public houses nearby, including the Kings Arms at Reepham, The Fox at Lyng, White Horse at Longham, Brisley Bell,  the Squirrel’s Drove at Sporle, The Honingham Buck in Honingham and the Crown at Colkirk. Further afield you may wish to try the Saracen’s Head at Wolterton, Recruiting Sergeant at Coltishall, or the Swan Inn at Ingham.

Horkey Kitchen at Bawdswell is a great spot for breakfast, lunch or afternoon tea.  The Goat Shed at Honingham does a lovely breakfast or lunch and has an amazing farm shop attached.

We are sure you will find many other lovely places to eat or enjoy a drink.  There are several micro breweries locally and lots of fantastic gin is distilled in Norfolk.  Archangel distilleries make fine gin just outside Fakenham and offer a great presentation on the history of gin.

There are numerous takeaway opportunities in Dereham, many of whom will deliver to the village.
